Synopsis

Eight years after Western inventions of mechanized dolls and steam-driven machines reached 19th century Japan, these technologies have begun to transform daily life. A militant faction called the Wind Gang, composed of operators who use dolls and steam devices, pursues a vision of forcing an Industrial Era through violent means. They attack and raze the tranquil community where Hiwou, a young doll operator, lives. Fleeing the assault with his companions and a large doll named Homura, Hiwou sets out to locate his father. His goals are to confront the Wind Gang and to restore peace to Japan disrupted by the group's campaign.
