Synopsis

Hayate Ayasaki's life is defined by relentless bad luck. Abandoned after his parents' debt exceeds 150 million yen and nearly sold to the yakuza, he flees a bleak future. During his escape he encounters Nagi Sanzenin and, intending to abduct her to settle the debt, is misunderstood when his actions are interpreted as a confession. After rescuing her from actual kidnappers, Hayate is employed as Nagi's personal butler; she is revealed to belong to one of Japan's wealthiest families. Despite his competence, Hayate continually faces a cascade of misfortunes while performing household duties, confronting dangerous adversaries, and navigating the unintended romantic attention of those around him. The story presents a blend of comedy and adversity as Hayate strives to serve faithfully amid constant setbacks and complicated social situations.
