Synopsis

Set within the timeline of the .hack//G.U. trilogy and adapted from the CyberConnect2 title, the film centers on Haseo, a prominent player in the MMORPG The World:R2 initially known for hunting other player killers. Once part of the dissolved Twilight Brigade, he confronts Azure Kite—whom he suspects to be Tri-Edge and blames for Shino's fate—but is decisively defeated. Azure Kite uses a Data Drain that strips Haseo of his level, equipment, and contacts, leaving him reduced to level one and confronting the baffling nature of that ability. Later, Haseo bonds with the Avatar of Skeith, granting him Skeith’s powers including the capacity to Data Drain. Armed with that new force, he embarks on a mission to find Tri-Edge, driven by the wish to rescue Shino Nanao, who has remained in a coma since an encounter with Tri-Edge six months earlier.
