Synopsis

Chitose Fujinomiya’s life shifts abruptly from privilege to hardship after her affluent father dies and mounting debts strip away her wealth. Expelled from the upscale City Academy, she finds herself nearly penniless and clinging to a single memento: a pink goldfish named Gyopi-chan. Exhausted and adrift, Chitose collapses on the grounds of the modest but cheerful Country Junior High School, where students are rough around the edges yet warm, and animals freely wander the campus and even join lessons. Recovering at this unfamiliar school, she is unsettled by its modest circumstances and struggles to accept an environment so far removed from the comfort and status she has always known.
