Synopsis

At thirteen, Maya Kitajima is trapped in a life of menial labor under a volatile mother, until veteran performer Chigusa Tsukikage notices Maya's exceptional acting ability and opens a perilous avenue toward a different future. Ayumi Himekawa, raised with natural advantages and industry ties, seeks recognition earned by skill rather than family reputation. Both girls aim for the same central role—the title character in Chigusa's play The Crimson Goddess—and must confront a series of escalating dramatic trials that push their craft and resilience to extremes. The pursuit for the single coveted part forces them into intense rivalry: only one can claim the role while the other must be left behind, as each strives to prove she is deserving.
