Synopsis

In Tenpō 14, Edo faces incursions by hostile beings from another realm known as Yoi. A clandestine faction called Bansha Aratemesho, publicly presented as scholars of foreign texts, secretly functions as the force tasked with eliminating these intrusions. Its operatives, referred to as Ayakashi, investigate strange phenomena across the country and are dispatched to confront Yoi when they appear. The members are unconventional individuals—such as a man with lost memories and a woman who adopts male attire—and they wield unique abilities that enable them to combat the Yoi while maintaining their covert scholarly cover.
