Synopsis

In a prosperous town where discarded items are casually abandoned, Rudo ekes out a living by reclaiming useful materials from refuse that others dismiss. His adoptive father, Regto, repeatedly warns him against risking the town’s disposal grounds known as the Pit — an immense, forbidding chasm used both for waste and as an irreversible form of punishment. After Regto is slain by an unknown attacker, Rudo is framed for the killing and hurled into the Pit. He awakens in an environment dominated by heaped detritus and populated by massive creatures formed from the refuse. The Pit’s polluted atmosphere and the relentless Trash Beasts nearly overwhelm him, but he is rescued by Enjin, a member of the Cleaners, a group that combats the monsters using specialized weapons called Vital Instruments. Given his own Vital Instrument, Rudo becomes part of the Cleaners, driven to survive the hazardous depths of the Pit and to uncover a path that might lead him out and allow him to avenge Regto.
