Synopsis

Mo Fan, a detached high school student, awakens in a world much like his own but governed by magic instead of conventional science. In this realm, elite pupils learn spellcraft to defend the city from massive, destructive creatures that roam the nearby woods. Still the son of a struggling laborer and the elder stepbrother to an impaired sister, Mo Fan aspires to join a magic school and become a practitioner respected for skill and able to ease his family’s burdens. He gains admission to a well-regarded academy, yet his family's poverty and perceived low aptitude for magic make him the target of scorn among peers. Against those expectations, Mo Fan unexpectedly develops mastery over the potent fire element and the uncommon lightning element. Equipped with both powers, he must confront the perils that arise around the academy and beyond.
