One year after the Yamato’s efforts removed radioactive contamination, Earth and nearby colonies are in a period of rebuilding. In 2201, a new menace appears when a strange, distorted signal seems to originate from a white comet bearing down on the planet. Recognizing the danger, former members of the Yamato crew seize their old space battleship and set out on a final voyage to intercept the approaching object and defend Earth from the looming threat.
