Synopsis

On Naral Island, where Demon Lords repeatedly rise and Heroes inevitably appear to challenge them, Juulia "Yusha" Charldetto and her party nearly finish their mission to end the current cycle. Her companions—the dutiful priest Seiran "Seira" Élénoir, the inscrutable mage Meiza "Mei" Endust, and the exuberant warrior Fai Fai—stand at the climax of a climactic confrontation. During the decisive struggle they attempt a dangerous time-directed spell intended to cast their adversary beyond reach. The ritual misfires, propelling Yusha and her comrades back to an era before the Demon Lord’s reign, before Yusha’s rise as the Hero, and to a point when the group had yet to fully become seasoned adventurers. Stripped of memories of the future, the four girls must rebuild their ambitions and once more pursue the goal of forming the Hero’s Party to challenge the looming threat. Unbeknownst to them, the Demon Lord was also hurled into the past but retains her memories and has been reduced to a childlike form. Assuming the name Mao, she takes a post at the adventurers’ academy as an instructor, intent on preventing Yusha’s ascension. The narrative follows Yusha and her friends as they strive to confront the Demon Lord, unaware that she now exists within their circle in a drastically different guise.
