Synopsis

Touma Kusaka is atypical among his Choshu relatives, rejecting their hostility toward foreigners. He reunites with Keiichirou Akizuki, a Tokugawa retainer who once aided Kusaka in evading authorities, and the two begin covertly learning English. Their clandestine meetings, kept hidden from their feuding households, lead to a growing romantic bond. As conflict between their clans grows closer and the prospect of war intensifies, Kusaka and Akizuki face the possibility that their duties and family loyalties will prevent them from building a shared life.
