Synopsis

Shinjuku, 1983: Akutsu Jouji, affiliated with the Kaeda yakuza, suffers humiliation after losing a street fight against a university cheering squad and pleads for forgiveness. His life unravels over the next ten years; by 1993 a hit is ordered against him, and while fleeing he takes his own life to escape a doomed existence. He then awakens back in Shinjuku in 1983, at the very clash that set his downfall in motion. Armed with an extra decade of memories and hard-won insight, Jouji confronts the students with renewed resolve and uses his gained experience to change the outcome. Vowing a visible new identity with a gold emblem, he resolves to rebuild his life from that turning point.
