Synopsis

A demon called Jashin-chan is brought to Earth by Yurine Hanazono, a young woman fascinated by the occult who lacks the means to send her back. Bound to live as Yurine’s familiar in her apartment, Jashin-chan faces a dilemma: the only route home would be to kill the person who summoned her, but she is inept at carrying out that task. Immortality and rapid regeneration render her unable to die, so Yurine routinely retaliates with an array of weapons and violent punishments for Jashin-chan’s attempted schemes. Their interactions are marked by a brutal, darkly comic dynamic as Yurine disciplines the demon without fear of permanent consequence. Periodically, Jashin-chan is visited by fellow demons—such as the gentle Gorgon Medusa and the lively minotaur Minosu—whose comparatively well-mannered behavior and disapproval of Jashin-chan’s murderous plans add further friction. The series centers on the odd, adversarial cohabitation of these two reluctant roommates and the strange, often gruesome comedic episodes that arise from their cat-and-mouse relationship.
