Synopsis

In a province wilting under its ruler's desperate ambition, a samurai lord bargains away spiritual protections to secure prosperity, receiving aid from a dozen demons in exchange for a hidden toll. When his firstborn arrives without limbs, facial features, or skin yet still alive, the child is cast into a river and left to die. A traveling medicine man rescues the boy, fitting him with prosthetic limbs and weapons that allow him to move and fend for himself despite lacking sight, hearing, and sensation. Driven to confront the supernatural bargains that cost him his body, he sets out to slay the demons responsible; with each demon he defeats, a lost portion of his being is restored. Years of solitary wandering change when an orphan named Dororo becomes his companion. Together, the two outcasts navigate a brutal, demon-infested world, struggling to survive and reclaim the boy's humanity without revealing the price paid by those who sought power.
