Synopsis

GUMI, Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka, and Kagamine Rin operate a small junk-collection enterprise in a cluttered urban district. Traveling in a light truck, they retrieve broken televisions, computers, and other discarded goods, often making playful announcements as they work. Their base is a corner unit in a multi-tenant building presented as a recycle shop but functioning largely as a warehouse, with items organized and labeled for sale. Requests for pickups soon exceed what the four can manage, and some abandoned possessions come into GUMI’s possession by circumstance. At the same time, a civic environmental group forms in the city center and prepares a downtown cleanup under the stated goal of redeveloping the neighborhood into a more attractive area. As the planned beautification begins to encroach on the messy district, the quartet resists the loss of their way of life and the community it supports. With municipal authorities and the beautification group each pursuing their own objectives, reports surface of a hazardous creature discovered in the local dump. This revelation prompts an aggressive cleanup effort that targets the dump and the surrounding downtown, ultimately converting the area into empty lots and escalating the conflict over the neighborhood’s future.
