Synopsis

Tomorou Tenma emits an unusually potent e-Pulse, the mental and emotional energy that powers small AI companions called Sapotama. His intensity disrupts those devices, and one night an anomalous being named Gekkoumon appears from his Sapotama and attempts to consume Tomorou's e-Pulse. Gekkoumon belongs to a class of Digimon that arose from Sapotama malfunctions and survive by feeding on human e-Pulse; some of these creatures can deplete victims entirely, leaving them in a comatose condition referred to as Cold Heart. When Tomorou's older brother Asuka falls victim to this fate, Tomorou resolves to recover him. He encounters Glowing Dawn, a team of Digimon hunters who pursue rogue Digimon for rewards. Their leader, Kyou Sawashiro, tells Tomorou there may still be a way to restore Asuka. Though wary of trusting strangers, Tomorou accepts their offer and joins their efforts, recognizing that rescuing his brother may require help beyond his own abilities.
