Akira Akebono, a determined youth, takes part in a competition dominated by robots that can shift into animal shapes. His goal is to obtain the tournament's top honor, the Titan Belt, relying on a collection of machines that can merge to form the single robot Daigunder. Daigunder was engineered by Akira’s father, Professor Hajime Akebono. Alongside Akira is Haruka; together they enter the contest as Team Akira. Their campaign is challenged not only by fellow contenders but also by Ginzan, a robot manipulated by the malevolent Professor Maelstrom.
