Synopsis

In a virtual world called Tsukuyomi, where creative expression and alternate lives converge, 17-year-old Iroha Sakayori balances school and part-time work while finding respite in the streams of Yachiyo Runami, the realm’s administrator. Iroha regularly visits Tsukuyomi to support Yachiyo and to play competitive games that help her make some extra income. One evening on her commute home she discovers a telephone pole suffused with pearlescent light, from which a small infant appears. Unable to leave the child behind, Iroha brings her home; the child ages rapidly into a young woman of Iroha’s generation. The newcomer, who evokes the legend of Princess Kaguya, grows into a willful, self-centered personality and asks Iroha to help launch a streaming career within Tsukuyomi. Iroha becomes Kaguya’s producer and songwriter while Kaguya performs and streams, and their working relationship deepens into a close companionship. Unseen by them, dark forces gather with the intent of reclaiming Kaguya for the moon. This story reimagines the Princess Kaguya narrative within a contemporary virtual setting, focusing on the bond between the two young women amid an approaching, mysterious threat.
