A young man stripped of a normal adolescence is burdened by his late father's crushing debts and survives by hunting devils alongside his pet, a chainsaw devil named Pochita. Their earnings always disappear into yakuza hands, leaving the young man to cling to modest longings: good meals and the company of a pretty partner. After the yakuza betray him and he is killed in a violent incident, an old pact allows Pochita to fuse with his corpse, reviving him as a human-devil hybrid whose limbs can become chainsaws. Recognized as a potential threat, he is taken under the supervision of Makima, an elite agent from the Public Safety Bureau, who grants him life in exchange for obedience. Motivated by the simple promise of a peaceful life beside an attractive woman, he pours himself into dangerous battles and unquestioning service to try to realize his innocent aspirations.
