Synopsis

Jouji Ema, who counts small endearing things to break the dullness of his routine, finds that at his all-boys school most subjects resist this habit—except for Miyoshi Hayashi. After an accidental incident at the sports festival, Hayashi begins trailing Ema and repeatedly asks whether Ema finds him attractive. Ema is uncertain about Hayashi’s direct yet innocent manner, but he becomes increasingly affected by Hayashi’s unusual charm. In a separate thread, Yuuichi Medaka’s year takes an awkward turn when he is placed across from Akira Nikaidou, a sullen student rumored to bring misfortune to those nearby. Medaka attempts to win Nikaidou’s favor but meets little success until he realizes there may be more to Nikaidou than the ominous reputation suggests. The stories explore shy attraction, misperception, and gradual emotional connection within the school setting.
