Synopsis

A decade after a fatal field expedition that killed his friend Kuroneko and left him gravely wounded, Ryouta Murakami settles into an ordinary high school existence while clinging to a promise to confirm the reality of extraterrestrial life in her memory. His routine is disrupted when transfer student Neko Kuroha appears, bearing an uncanny likeness to Kuroneko and even a name that echoes the past. Neko displays unexplained supernatural abilities, and Ryouta’s curiosity deepens into involvement. He soon discovers a hidden conflict: clandestine researchers are pursuing escaped witches—individuals endowed with magic—who fled from a covert laboratory. Neko is one of those fugitives, and countless others face capture. Forced into a dangerous situation, Ryouta becomes determined to protect these magic-wielding escapees from the scientists hunting them, navigating moral peril, mystery, and the weight of his unresolved history.
