Synopsis

Rygart Arrow stands apart in Cruzon because he cannot manipulate quartz, earning the label of an "un-sorcerer." He forms close bonds with Hodr and Sigyn, future rulers of Krisna, and with Zess, the younger sibling of Athens Commonwealth's Secretary of War. Years later, Rygart becomes aware of rising hostilities between Krisna and Athens. While in Binonten, Krisna’s capital, he learns that his inability to harness quartz uniquely allows him to operate an ancient Golem—an aptitude that those who use quartz lack. When Zess leads an Athenian assault on the capital, Rygart takes part in the conflict wielding this unexpected capability, driven by a wish to bridge the divide between the two countries.
