Synopsis

After a life-changing encounter with jazz, Dai Miyamoto resolves to become the world’s foremost jazz saxophonist. Only three years into learning the saxophone, he relocates to Tokyo to pursue opportunities in the music world. In a small club he meets pianist Yukinori Sawabe, a musician trained in classical traditions who doubts accepting a partner with so little experience and such ambitious claims. Confronted by Dai’s evident talent, Yukinori agrees to collaborate. Together with Shunji Tamada, a less experienced musician, they form the trio JASS. Their combined sound—shaped by Dai’s passion, Yukinori’s classical background, and Shunji’s rawness—offers a distinct voice that could enliven a stagnating jazz community, as the three navigate artistic differences, ambition, and the challenge of making their mark in Tokyo’s music scene.
