Synopsis

In a ruined city dominated by autonomous machines, a young scavenger named Zuru leads an expedition seeking provisions. Their mission triggers the city's automated defense system, putting the group at risk of destruction. A lone stranger, Killy, intervenes and neutralizes the attacking units. Though saved, Zuru doubts his intentions. Killy explains he has emerged from deep beneath the metropolis to locate humans who carry the Net Terminal Genes—individuals who might restore human authority and disable the Safeguard. Confronted with the possibility of reclaiming their world, Zuru and her companions accept Killy's proposal and join him on a perilous search for those genes that could determine humanity's fate.
