Synopsis

In 2021 a parasitic pathogen called Gastrea transforms infected people into monstrous beings, forcing the remnants of humanity to live behind towering Monolith walls composed of Varanium, the sole substance capable of harming the creatures. To confront this danger, young girls who carry small amounts of the pathogen—granting them enhanced physical capabilities—are designated as Initiators and paired with adult partners known as Promoters. These pairings are tasked with guiding and protecting the Initiators as they undertake missions to suppress Gastrea outbreaks and defend human settlements. The narrative follows Initiator Enju Aihara and her Promoter Satomi Rentaro as they carry out assignments in their native Tokyo, confronting the escalating threat posed by Gastrea while navigating the responsibilities and risks of their roles.
