Synopsis

Several years after the Anshi Rebellion, Tibetan forces push into the southwest, and Tang commander Gao Shi endures a battlefield loss that leaves Chang'an threatened. Trapped within the besieged capital, Gao Shi speaks with the eunuch assigned as the military overseer, reflecting on his past interactions with the poet Li Bai. The narrative focuses on the tense atmosphere of a city under threat and the personal recollections that surface amid military collapse, maintaining an introspective and somber tone without revealing later events.
